Anti-Spring Skiing in Utah

I call it "Anti-Spring" because what we see in Spring in Utah is snow. In the mountains that is, but down in the valley it has been an average of about 58 degrees. This is the first Anti-Spring that I have experienced here in Utah and what a treat it has been. I have never realized how good snow still can be in the months of April and May. Now, I have been told that I have been spoiled with this snow season because it is rare to see it like this
so late (and early for the matter) in the season. Regardless though, this is what Utah has the potential to be every year. That is the clear, cut motivation for any ski bum/boarder types to move to this state. Some resorts have been closed since April 10 due to the land being owned by the National Park Service and they own the rights to close whenever they see fit to not affect the ecosystem. Snowbird though, does not. Also, at higher elevation, Snowbird can continue their services, aka fun, for as long as they possibly can. Their prediction for the last day of the year is July 4. So, when friends and family out in the east are going to BBQs, the beach, graduation parties, and enjoying the fun in the sun in hot weather; I'll be enjoying the sun in the snow. Incredible.

Here are some photos (too much fun was had to take any more) from my day up at the Bird on May 29, 2011. Yes, May 29...
