Elly, Edelweiss, Glory "Link-Up"

The inversion I wanted to get out of. Gray and 15 degrees in town, sunny and 30 degrees up top.
My intentions on this day were only to hit Mt Elly and ride "The Claw", a sustained 50 degree tree chute, but I got a motivated to do extra laps especially after I saw the huge inversion hanging over Jackson. These laps were not the most difficult but it definitely got me thinking of what else can be linked up and I feel like I'm back in the groove. Read on for what I did for this one.

After I rode the Claw I thought I could go hit Powder Reserve and Edelweiss. Then after that, a quick boot up Mt Glory, dropping back to my now lit by street light car at 5pm. This was all pretty much spur of the moment, and I probably should of started a little earlier if I knew that this was going to happen. In hindsight, I wish I had planned this link up a little better. It doesn't make much sense to hit Elly > Edelweiss > Glory but that's all part of trying stuff I guess!

Despite the poor planning, what I got to experience was some great North facing snow, my body hitting complete exhaustion and a beautiful sunset while all avoiding the inversion that we currently have in town. It was not until I started hiking up the 2000 ft ascent of Glory that I really hit the wall though. This season I haven't done anything like this and was more into the "one and done" type of riding. My endurance needs a lot of work if I plan on doing what I want to do this season.

Sunset from Mt Glory

That straight line was a glitch, I hitch-hiked back to my car and got picked up by a guy in a Porche 911, with a ski rack. Obviously the highlight of the day.
